Mickey Mouse | dUCk Shawl in Traffic Troubles

Moving houses has never been more tiring and packing seems never ending. As the big day got closer, the “I’ll pack that later” pile continued to grow. As I was packing my closet, I stumbled upon an old, dusty box hidden beneath a pile of forgotten belongings marked “grandma’s stuff”. Curiosity piqued, I opened the box and discovered a collection of photographs, in sepia tones and vivid colours that brought the past to life.

Each picture held a story, a glimpse into her vibrant life before I was even born. One photograph in particular looked like grandma had her own set of girlfriends, like her very own Hannah and Carey. Dazzling in their glimmering outfits, strutting on red carpets adorned with art deco accents, with jazz tunes filling in the air, it looked like they were having a glamorous night out! Her photographs showed young women who embraced life with a fierce spirit, a contagious zest for adventure, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. This ignited a spark in me to click rewind, leading to our latest collection!

For our Mickey Mouse | dUCk designs, I wanted to reimagine the glitz of grandma’s era, and bring it together with my own take on this classic Disney character. Did you know that Steamboat Willie is Disney’s first film starring Mickey Mouse to be released with a synchronised soundtrack? What a milestone! I keep these legacies close to my heart as a constant source of inspiration to live a life full of purpose, creativity and endless possibilities.

It’s a sweet solution to reduce our carbon footprint and secure sustainably sourced materials to create more dUCk boxes.
